About Us
We are a not for profit organization dedicated to helping deserving children attend private schools in Uganda. Our Board Members are:
Stephen Oleskey is a senior partner in the law firm of Wilmer Hale in Boston, MA. He has been honored by the American Bar Association for his pro bono work over many years. He has served on the boards of a number of charitable organizations, and is currently the chairman of the board of Pact, an NGO which works with vulnerable people in Asia, Africa and South America to create local solutions to chronic problems of economic and social development.
Margaret Darling has lived in Carlisle, MA since 1977. She and her husband Eric raised their three children there, and they continue to be committed to their community. Margaret is actively involved in social issues on the state, national and international levels. After earning her master’s degree from the New England Conservatory in 1973, she has taught piano at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge for 27 years, and continues to teach private students.
Florence Kamahoro Goulet was born in a village in western Uganda. Her parents had never been taught to read or write, but because of their extraordinary devotion to education all of their children were able to complete high school. After she came to the United States Florence became determined to do everything she could to help poor Ugandan children, particularly orphans, get an education.
Donald Westwater has a master’s degree in international health. He has worked for over 20 years in health policy research, including research and curriculum development at the Harvard School of Public Health on public health issues in East Africa and Southeast Asia.
Kathleen Carey holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and two master’s degrees, one in international public health and another in psychiatric nursing. She has worked in maternal child health in Bolivia and Ecuador, and with poor families in the Boston area. For the past 11 years she has been on the staff of Mclean Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, doing clinical research on childhood and adolescent mental health issues.
